This year, I missed the Oscars. Didn't miss them actually, just didn't bother to watch. It's certainly not for a lack of interest; I love going to movies. But this year I only saw one Oscar related movie. I saw 'Inglorious Basterds', so it was interesting to see Christophe Walz win an actor Oscar. But I haven't even seen Avatar. I kept meaning to see it, but 'stuff' kept getting in the way. It's like John Lennon once wrote "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". Too many plans & not enough life. I gotta change that.

Confusion reigns supreme at the Oscars

When the Oscar nominees were announced this year, I was confused. It wasn’t that I debated the movies that were given the nod, or thought that other films were more deserving. I was confused from watching the Best Picture nominees. I simply didn’t understand them. I’m not sure we’ve ever had such a field of incomprehensible films nominated for Best Picture. Every single one of these movies left me slightly baffled, as to what the heck was going on. That being said, I’m going to do my best to handicap the picks.
